Food photography of donuts
It has been a long time since I had time to write blogs for my website. I am going to pick up where I left off a few months ago.
In the spring we spent a day at Bunelos in Annacloy, Northern Ireland, photographing their delicious donuts.
It was a lovely shoot, discovering how donuts are made. Unbeknown to the customers, so much work goes into making donuts.
Our brief was to create a set of photographs for their spring, summer and wedding promotions. Also photographing a range of their products without a particular theme, the chefs and barista at work and some fun shots of staff.
As usual, considering that as well as photography I also do the food styling, we did get through a lot.
When photographing food, I am aware that the clients need a wide range of shots for their marketing. Therefore, after I’ve set up a shot for each dish/theme, and am happy with all aspects of the composition and lighting, I would normally take some wide shots, close up shots, portrait format for social media and editorial. If the shot lends itself, I would also take some overhead shots. This provides the clients, with a range of options. Below are some examples of the shoot.
